oy. saturday was really fun... from what i remember. i had about 9 beers, plus a couple of shots of william's lemon liquor... plus a glass of his mixed liquors... all for a fun filled evening :) i'm waiting to hear the stories people will have to share... hopefully i spared myself some humilliation by sleeping in the front seat of the van... but we'll see. i have a feeling it's going to be a long day. i heard back from petsmart... and i officially start on wednesday. then i work wed, thurs, fri, and sat! if i ever complained about not having anything to do, i no longer have that right. but at least i'll be making the money i need. on top of that, i'm also doing books still for this little boy nathaniel... so my freetime = none :(

i got the job at petsmart... the interview on friday was a breeze. i find out this morning when i start... but in the meantime, i am getting ready to get my buzz on for tailgating. i was up at 6 this morning, to go help the other social committee members put up the tent and get ice, etc... should be fun! i'm debating bringing a camera... a camera at a tailgate? hmm.. might be worth it though, to see me in some illinois gear... oh, what a traitor i am ;)

and the second and final round begins friday at 4... i go in for the petsmart thing after work on fri, so wish me luck! then it's off to the tailgate bright and early saturday morning... for a game at 5pm. let's hope i actually make it to the game ;) weight loss update... i am now 1.5 lbs away from my personal goal! after doing ww off and on for the past couple of months, i finally managed to stay on it for a full two weeks, and wouldn't you know, it still works :) now i just have to get there, and maintain it for six weeks... and i'm golden. :)

so yesterday turned out to be really fun... after work, i got invited to go out with a girl from work... so we went and hung out for a bit... ;) i now have plans to meet up with her maybe next tuesday, so that should be fun :) i gave blood today... and although i asked them to jab my left arm, the chair i was in only had a right arm to it, so they decided they would try my right arm first. of course it didn't work, and it hurt like hell. so then they switched arms, and it went smoothly. *sigh* so now i'm walking around with these two giant blue bandages on each arm... i look like i'm sporting elbow pads or something... oh well. i'm really tired now though... 15 more min and i can head home for a nap... i can't wait...

i blogged this a while back... last year i think... but after all the life changes and drama i've gone through since then... it was interesting to read this...

--------------
so i took the "what drives you?" test on emode. this is apparently what drives me:

Carrie, your Key Motivator, the thing that really drives you to success in life, is Stability.

Based on your answers about values, past behaviors, and internal priorities, we can tell you look for ways to be safe, and to understand cause and effect relationships in your life. It's important to you to avoid situations with ambiguous or uncertain outcomes, and you're willing to apply your skills to the right tasks to make sure you've got a backup plan or a safety net for the big decisions in life.

You take comfort in knowing you're prepared for your future and as such, take the necessary steps to make your life more predictable. Whether that means setting up a good savings account, educating yourself, or physically safeguarding your home with alarms or new storm windows, you do well when stability is in your sights. It's not that you can't handle adversity; it's just that you prefer to be prepared for it.

In fact, you probably tend to feel the most secure when you're in control. You've got your life mapped out ahead of you and it gives you pleasure when you see your dreams and hopes met according to plan.

hmmm... ;)

nothing spectacular is going on this week. i'm donating blood on wed afternoon. i feel obligated, since i'm o negative, the universal donor. so that sucks, that i'll feel like crap on wed. but this saturday is the tailgate for illinois vs. wisconsin game at u of i... and my work is having a tailgate. so i get to hang out with coworkers and got sloshed all day! woohoo! i guess that's something to look forward to! ;)

and today went good. it lasted a whole 15 min where she showed me around the store, and made me walk up to a customer and see how i interacted. she pointed out a person with a year and half old german sheppard... what? a dog person talk about their dog? i asked one question and the woman rambled for a good 5 minutes :) it was perfect :) so i go in for the final interview next week sometime... all these interviews... yuck. but it's because they only have 2 spots to fill, and about 20 applicants. but if this doesn't work out... i've still got options :) and now the rest of the weekend i have nothing planned... time to go back to bed :)

so the "interview" today wasn't really an interview. it was an introduction... telling us what they were hiring for, and what hours they needed people. my real interview is now on saturday, at 9am. i have to go in, and they want us to work with customers, to see how we do. the whole thing won't last more than 20 min, so that should be interesting. not a huge deal. i'm just glad i will have an excuse to get out of my apartment this weekend :)

well it's official. today i've been at my job for six months. seems like forever ago... and then when i go back to michigan, it seems like i just left. i still get homesick every time i go back there. nothing beats the feeling of having everything be familiar. you know what store is on every street corner, you know where the best places to eat are... you have memories of places and times all over town... makes me sad. i drove through downtown e.l. last weekend visiting my sister, and it was 1am... and since it was warm outside, everyone not of legal age to be at the bar, was out walking to/from a house party. makes me laugh when i think about our drunken walks... and how as a freshman, i would get together with a huge group of people, and we'd go from house to house looking for a party with a keg :) ah... college :) but hey, i still look like i'm in high school... so maybe i should live it up ;) anyway, work after six months started off great... had some trouble... but it's starting to look better. we'll see how the next couple of months go... hopefully i'm still employed...

update on the job hunt: got three applications, and one interview thursday. that one is looking good... it's working as a cashier at petsmart. so not only do i get paid, but i also get a discount on pet supplies... which i am always in dire need of. the other two apps are at restaurants that are currently hiring... we'll see how the petsmart thing goes before i try those. then if those don't work out, i can always default to target, meijer, or kohls or something. i just need something i can do weeknights and weekends. i'm desperate for money NOW. doing sites for people is good, too... but those tend to drag out before i actually get paid... and i need something steady.

so other than my finances calling for a second income, i had tap class tonight. that's going really, really well... i think i could do the combinations the level four class does... but this instructor teaches them differently. she actually counts the rhythm out in beats... rather than saying the name of the steps in rhythm, like my last instructor. so it's hard to break myself of that habit. but once i see the whole step, in the correct rhythm, i pick it up without a problem. so i like that the level three class goes slower... it gives me a chance to learn the real steps, and the history behind their names, etc...

alright, i'm exhausted... both mentally and physically. off to bed, and then back to work in the morning. i'm heading to bed while i still have time to enjoy my spare time...

so i managed to catch sex in the city tonight... it was the season finale... and Mikhail Baryshnikov was on! i don't know if people caught that they named his character "alecsander"... i thought it was hilarious... because people in real life call him "michael" instead of "mick-hail" like it's supposed to be pronounced. anyway... aside from that little piece, i loved the episode, but like most of the hbo finales... it wasn't one of the best. but still oh-so-good. i'm a sucker for cheesy romance... and this show has it, with a twist :) not to mention a show that can make the best ballet dancer of all time into a studio 54 sex god... you gotta love it :)

i was sent the ford video by a friend at work (the one where the car's hood swats a pigeon to the ground)... and wouldn't you know, animal rights groups are after them. go figure.

the weekend was interesting. i'm actively scouting out jobs this week, though. i actually have about a month of free weekends coming up, until adam's wedding, so it's the perfect time to start a second job. i'm going today to pick up apps... and then turning them in tomorrow, and the rest of the week. wish me luck.

today, i was a bum. i watched movies all day... stayed in my pjs... and had a relaxing day. i finally got to see the godfather... and i got pissed when i went to go watch bull durham and it was on one of the channels i don't subscribe to. dammit. but i did get to see sex in the city... the finale is next weekend, and i'm going to be out of town. it's also the premiere of carnival and k street... i've become an hbo sunday night junkie. sitc was excellent... as always... and i will be very sad when the final season ends in the spring. but hey, i'll have a dog... so hopefully i won't miss it too much. alright... off to bed... work comes early... :(

woohoo... today has been a good day :) i just got back from visiting a lab breeder in galva, illinois. it was about a two and a half hour drive from here... but her dogs were awesome! she was also a super sweet woman... and she clicker trains her dog! i sat and talked with her for a good half hour, and i got put on her waiting list for a puppy in the spring. apparently her waiting lists are as long as 6-9 months... so i picked a good time to come visit. so that really cheered me up, playing some sweet dogs for a while. it also made me super excited to get a puppy again... spring cannot come fast enough! :) so that was some good excitement this weekend... now i really need to clean this place. i am completely out of clothes... i need to do eight thousand loads of laundry... and the place is a disaster area. so off i go...

i'm having a rough time lately. work's got me down, and life in general has me down. i'm debating just throwing it all in and moving home... if only life were that easy. everyone's got problems... life's all about problems. most people hate their job. most people have a hard time making ends meet. half of married people get divorced. everyone's got problems. so i figured i would dwell on the negativity for a while. cause you know, that ALWAYS helps things ;) i'll eventually not feel so bad... but right now i can't shake it. i feel like a failure, and it's not the first time. if you know that you are good at something, be thankful. alright, enough bitching.

so class last night was fun... i started in the level one class... but then got asked to stay for the level three class right after. two hours of tap! :) it was a good refresher... and although my instructor asked if i wanted to try level four... i stuck with level three... until i am back doing my basics with no flaws. i was a bit rusty last night, and it showed. so the other 12 year olds and i are gonna have fun on tuesday nights from 8:15-9:15. i'm still debating on whether or not to continue over the spring... i'd have to be in the recital if that was the case. not sure i'm ready to get on stage again. i think it will depend on the music we dance to. it makes a HUGE difference. if it's seussical... i'm done. but if it's a fun jazz beat... now THAT might be pretty fun to shake it to...

back from a fun wedding shower. although, afterwards, we were on our way back to adam and becky's house... when we found out that a friend of theirs' dog, who they had brought to play with their dogs while we were at the shower, had jumped adam's fence. so we then had to circle the neighborhood, looking for this poor dog. they found him... and when i finally saw him, i cannot figure out how this dog jumped the fence.

he's a bulldog mix... and weighs 140 lbs. that's more than i weigh!! it must be solid muscle... cause damn! he's a hippo! but as sweet as can be... so ya gotta love him. but whoa! :) other than that fiasco, the rest of the weekend went fine. i'm off to michigan in two weeks for the other shower... then in october i'm back to minnesota for the wedding. it's coming up pretty quick... i can't believe summer's over already :(
