so my decorations are done! i put up the tree, after finding hooks for the bulbs, and after buying an OUTSIDE extension cord, but not before getting all they way home and figuring out that the one i had previously bought for lights was indoor only. doh. anyway, here's my tree and decorations:

i'm in the christmas mood after listening to christmas music all freakin day long at petsmart... so i went out to meijers and picked up some christmas decorations! i got some icicle lights for my balcony, a tree, some bulbs, a few strings of lights, and a star for the top! :) i'll take pictures when i'm done... what little i have. but it's christmas decorating time tonight! we're also going out at eleven, for my friend melanie's birthday. not sure what the plans are yet, but should be fun! :)

back from vacation already. short lived, it was ok. the driving was long, but the food was good. i got to bring some back with me. now i'm tired from driving though, and i have to be at work in half an hour. argh. then i'm supposed to work 8 hours tomorrow and 8 hours on sunday. i'm gonna try and get someone to cover sunday's shift... i'm exhausted, AND i'm gonna miss football... AGAIN. dammit. but next week is my last week, and then i don't ever have to do it again. thank god. i guess that's what i'm thankful for... to have freetime again. OH! and i got a cd burner for my birthday! dad, you rock! i can finally make cd's for my car again! woohoo!!

it's early. but not as early as it will be tomorrow, when i attempt to drive home. i forgot that EVERYONE travels on thanksgiving... so i hope to god if i leave early enough i will miss the majority of the traffic. anyway, i guess i should have clarified which job i was leaving... the job at petsmart. hk is still going great... and things in champaign are improving. now i just have to get through this weekend, and next week, and i'll be good to go...

i gave them my two weeks last night. so starting december 7, i'm a free woman! :) i am actually going to work on books with jackie for a while... it pays WAY better, and allows me to work from home. but with that also comes the need for motivation... which i tend to lack. oh well, it should be ok. i do have to work wed night though... so now i'm going to have to leave illinois early thursday morning... by 6am... in order to get to michigan by 1pm (due to the time change). then i have to turn around again on friday morning, and drive back here, to work fri night. yuck. but then i get to come home for a little longer around christmas time... so it's ok. at least i'm coming home for one day! :)

i'm goin to vegas!! i can't wait... i've been wanting to go forever... and now my cousin is getting married there the first week of april. so my whole family is flyin down there, and we'll be gone about 4-5 days. it's gonna be interesting, since everyone is in the detroit area... so i'm going to have to meet them down in vegas... but WOOHOO! i'm gonna WIN! ;)

so i feel a lot better today... i can start swallowing without it feeling like i'm using sandpaper on my throat. but i didn't go to the christmas party last night... i just came home and went to bed. so i am scheduled to work mon,wed,fri,sat, and sun at petsmart... and if i can't get out of working wed night, i may have to just drive home thursday morning. how much would that suck? that's 32 hours... and i thought last week was bad. granted, i'm not working at hk thurs/fri... so that helps... but man, so much for a break for the holidays. since i went home sick on sat, i didn't get a chance to give them my two weeks... so that's the plan for tonight. no way am i going through this at christmas. the holidays are hard enough.

sweet. i have strep throat. those nice little white patches on my throat and tonsils are pretty. but DAMN it hurts to swallow. so it's not a viral infection... and i have some antibiotics that have helped take away the fever. so i feel a little more normal... but still wish i could swallow like a normal person. :(

so last night at work, i start to feel like REAL crap. my throat hurt and my head hurt so bad it was making my eyes and ears hurt. so then i wake up this morning and BLAM i'm full blown sick. it still feels like i'm swallowing with rocks... and i went to the doctor today and was told i have a viral infection. YUCK. so i've been laying in bed all day, fever and throat hurting. :( i'm a wuss when i'm sick... but oh well... hopefully i can feel better to work tomorrow...

i have been waking up lately with shoulder/back/neck pain... and i think it's the crap i use on my bed. it was fun for a while, but the foam mattresses (eggshells) that i put on top of my regular mattress i think are hurting more than they are helping. either that, or my pillows suck. i think i'm gonna rip them off tonight and see if i sleep better. last night i came home and just crashed. i went to bed at 5:30... i rock. now i'm rested though, except for the pain in my shoulders. and i'm glad it's friday. next week is such a short week, and i'll be making the drive back to michigan on wednesday. i forgot that wednesday is also the biggest bar night of the year... so i will be meeting friends in michigan... :)
tonight starts the 21 hour work weekend at petsmart. i'm still trying to find out if the girl at work can take my sunday shift... i'm gonna miss football! the christmas party is sunday... so that should be fun. but i think it's time to call it quits for the second job. it's not worth the effort i am making... so it's time to go. i'm giving my two weeks tomorrow. we'll see if i am actually scheduled for the next two weeks... but i'm sick of being tired and worn out all the time. my apartment hasn't been cleaned in over a month, and my bills are not getting organized and are getting paid late... anyway, i'll be a one-job woman again here shortly. :) i'll miss the discount, but i'll survive, i'm sure.

the short version: had fun at the bar. drank WAY too much. made drunken phone calls which included screaming into the phone to jackie about split peas and tushies and just flat out screaming loudly (sorry jackie). stayed up too late, and am now ridiculously hung over. my face looks sunburnt for some reason, and i feel like i'm gonna hurl. nice.

yep, it's my birthday today. woohoo, happy birthday to me. i'm 25 today... i got sung to last night by laura (thanks laura!) and this morning by mitch :) i also got the crap scared out of me last night... when someone buzzed my door. i'm super paranoid girl when it comes to those buzzes... so when they only rang once, i just let it go... assuming someone just probably hit the wrong button. it turned out to be the ups guy... and i missed a package cause i didn't answer the door. doh. but i went out last night with a friend... she gave me a present... and it's awesome! she is a very talented artist, and drew a portrait of me. :) i'll have to take a photo, and show it on the site... it's really good! tonight i am celebrating with a couple people from work, at our happy hour from 5-7 :) so it's been a good day... thanks for the emails... i wish you all could be here to celebrate with me... but oh well. it's nice to know you're thinking of me :)

there is a new evil among internet browsers called 'hijacks'. they are not viruses... but they ARE annoying as hell. they are ways that an internet site takes over your browser (mostly ie) and either takes over links... or, as in my more annoying case, causes POPUPS ALL THE TIME. dammit! i downloaded hijackThis... but so far i haven't found a way to remove it. randomly (not on every page) an ad will popup from xads.offeroptimizer.com or xlime.offeroptimizer.com... off of sites like google or ebay or something. i ran ad-aware, but it didn't remove it... since it's not really spyware. hijacks are also more annoying... since they are integrated into your browser... and with some, if you don't remove them correctly, can cause you to lose internet access! whoever found this and started using it for ads... I HATE YOU. grrr...

i wake up late. it's pouring out. i can't find my umbrella, so right before i go outside, i set my pop down and cover my head with my coat. i get to work ten minutes late, and realize i forgot my pop. this day sucks.
update: it's getting better. breakfast was good, and brad brought in his cheese ball from the party on saturday. mmm... nothin like cheese and crackers in the morning ;) i also heard the story of gabe and the turkey fryer... and how lisa had her baby yesterday... good news always brightens my day :)

this weekend was ok... didn't get a whole lot done... but it was nice to rest on sunday. so i watched some good football... even though a ton of my teams lost. but my fantasy team ROCKED! as of this morning, i had scored the highest for this week! woohoo! seeing as this is the first week i broke 100 pts... that's pretty good ;) a good way to start off a monday, anyway. i got my schedule this week for petsmart... 26.5 HOURS! good god... this job is gonna kill me. i'm trying to find someone to take one of my shifts... otherwise i'll just go nuts. the happy hour for work is on wednesday... so i'm looking forward to that... and then the x-mas party is on sunday night. so it should be a good time. busy, busy week... but what else is new? i should start a donation fund, to save my sanity... hmmm... sounds like an idea :)
today also marks my 8 month anniversary at human kinetics. hard to believe i've been down here 8 months already... some days it feels like i just got here... others feel like i've been here forever. they say the first year moving away is the hardest... i'll second that. i've gone through days of complete homesickness... it sucks. but it's getting better. it helps that nothing back in michigan is the same as when i left... so it's not as if i could go back and jump right back into things, as they were. everything has changed... people have moved, gotten married, had kids. it's crazy. who knows where i'll be in a year. the job is still going good down here... so at least i have that going for me. it's the rest of my life i'm busy trying to figure out. making friends and meeting people has been tough... but not impossible. i was worried i was going to have to celebrate my birthday on my own... but i managed to rustle up some folks to go out to the bar with me :)

huh. this explanation of the matrix:revolutions actually made me appreciate the movie, and the matrix plot, a lot more. it makes much more sense... but i'm still mad at the writer for the dialogue. but at least the story makes sense to me now...

man. i went from having nothing to do, to never having any free time anymore! up until thanksgiving, i've got stuff planned all week, and every weekend. this week, i have to work, plus i have the monthly ecicfug meeting, and then a bbq with people from work. should be fun... i'm happy about it :) then next week it's my birthday, and we are having a happy hour with people from work. not to celebrate my birthday of course... but what a coincidence that i'm on the social committee... and the happy hour just so happens to fall on my birthday... ;) then that weekend jackie might be coming to visit... and it's the petsmart christmas party. then the next week we have a short work week, due to thanksgiving... and i'm driving back to michigan. so PHEW... lots of plans. pretty soon, christmas will be here, and i'm still working on saving money for gifts. oh well... at least i can't complain about being bored anymore! :)

well, i almost didn't make it to the expo yesterday. yahoo gave me some really BAD directions... but it was my fault for not looking at a map before heading out, to double check them. it took me 4 hours to get up to chicago, which normally takes 2.5 max... so i wound up missing the whole first session i signed up for. but the expo was awesome... and i got to eat lunch with KAREN PRYOR!!!! She is the one that started the whole clicker-training idea... the one who formed the expo, wrote the books on it, made the videos, and is currently a very highly respected animal behaviorist. i was sitting by myself, and a girl came over and started talking with me. well, all of a sudden, karen came over, and started talking to the girl, who she obviously knew... so she sat down with the three of us! i was trying my hardest not to say anything completely ridiculous... i just couldn't believe she was sitting there! then another speaker for the expo joined us... and i got a lot of tips and suggestions from her as well :) so that was AWESOME. i'm so glad i went.
today however, i have to work at petsmart from 9-5. no football for me... and no sleeping in at all this week, it seems. sucks. oh well... time to go get ready...

woohoo.. party tonight! :) the folks at petsmart are havin a party tonight... i won't make it until after i close, but it should be a good time. i get my hair cut at 1pm today... hopefully she does a good job. i always get nervous having someone new do my hair... but she comes highly recommended, and the girl that recommended her always has really cute styles. so lets just hope she can do mine as well as she does hers :) then tomorrow is the drive up to chicago for the clicker expo... so all in all, it should be a fun weekend. i'm trying to decide whether or not to stop at ikea on my way home from the expo... it's right near by... and i've never been. but i should wait until i actually have money to spend there... so we'll see...

ok, i know a few people read this, in different areas... so i am hoping you can all help. my sister is in dire need of a job, that is full time, mon-fri, preferably during the day. she is the most qualified for secretarial-type jobs... and though she is hoping to find a job in a law office, ANY office assistant type job would work right now. anyone know of any opportunities out there? she's having a hard time finding one... so thanks in advance!

so was god telling me to get a dog soon, or what?? i go to the gas station this morning, to buy my daily pop... and when i come out, there is a yellow lab dog, running over to me! he comes up, tail wagging, and won't leave my side! he was super friendly, and probably would have gotten in my car, had i tried to take him. he was obviously someone's pet, who had gotten out... so the gas station employees took him inside, to call the owners on the tag... but jeez! i could have had a dog today! that's the second dog that i have found outside that gas station... stupid owners in the area can't seem to keep their dogs in their yard. there's one dog that is a regular to the station... when someone called the owners, they said they didn't care, and let him wander the area. so basically, this dog is going to get hit by a car one day, and his owners won't know. :( poor little guy! i feel like i should put animal control on speed dial, so that when i find another one, i'll have someplace to take the poor thing. especially now that it's getting colder... people! control your animals!

i'm so disappointed. the movie was great special effects-wise... but GOOD GOD was the writing bad. whoever wrote the dialogue should be shot. i can only handle so many freakin riddles. as i think about it more... it starts to make a little more sense... but enough talking about it... my head hurts.

so this week looks promising. i only have to work at petsmart mon, thurs, and fri... and the matrix opens this wed!! so we all get to go during work, and see it! woohoo! that, and this saturday i have plans in chicago, to go to the clicker expo... i know, i know... no dog yet... but i'm excited nonetheless :) i even won my fantasy football game last night (no players in tonight's game)... so that made me happy. i've been trying for weeks to score above 70 pts, and i hit 95 yesterday :) monday's looking good so far! i also decided to join the weight watchers at work program, so i can finally make lifetime. i've been under my ww goal for a couple months now... but if i sign up for meetings... i pay for 6 weeks, and if i stay under that goal, i make lifetime, and i never have to pay again! so i can handle six weeks... plus i've been slipping from it badly lately... 40pts one day, 45 pts the next... so doing this during the holidays will inspire me NOT to go crazy :)

well, i wound up going out last night anyway, for halloween... i wore the flapper outfit, and it was a hit :) it was an ok night... but the heels i wore KILLED my feet by the end of the night, with all that dancin goin on. i have to work tonight, from 2-10, then i'm heading up to cowboy monkey (a local bar) with a friend of mine. as for the football game today... so far state is getting killed by 10 pts... i hope to god we get our shit together! go state!!
