in light of the new sims game, i have realized that my current video card (a simple ati rage pro) will not suffice. i need a new video card for this game! so i'm looking to hopefully get a new radeon 9800 pro... but the sucker is like 300 dollars. hmm... looks like i'll be doing books soon, to make some extra money! it would be so sweet though... but almost a waste... seeing as that would be the only game that i'd be using the card for. i guess i'll just have to invest in more games ;)

we used to have a sims game going constantly in my old apartment in the oaks... if i wasn't playing it, laura was... or keith... or my sister... it was so fun (when we weren't playing bust-a-move). so now i'm SUPER excited that the sims 2 is coming out in march! it looks sweet... although... i'm not sure if i like the fact that people now age, and gain weight... the kids even inherit facial features and behaviors... it's crazy :) i want it now!! :)

i made a good try. i finished dead last in my fantasy football league. and i also finished second to last with the pro pick'em... but only because the last place person quit after the 3rd week. doh. but i will say that i gave a good try. and i did improve by the last couple of weeks. there's always next year... ;)

like most people this week, i am back to work after a 4 day weekend. i had a good time at home, but it was way too much driving. i also didn't get a very good night's sleep for most of the time... and my neck and shoulders are killing me. but it was good to see everyone. i don't have plans for new year's... i found out i don't have a half day wednesday... so that kinda blows. but not like i have anything crazy to do anyway. i decided it's a 'celebrate the new year with myself' kinda party... so we'll see how it goes. i am really sick of driving, so i vetoed going up to chicago... football and laying around will be my party on thursday :) then my sister's birthday is coming up on the 13th... and then i get to prepare for moving. i decided that even though a dog is not in my immediate future, my rent needs to come down. so i'm moving in march (my lease is up on the 30th)... so starting next week, i'm going to start really looking for a place to live. my apartment is nice... but there's a reason... and somethin's gotta give. and i can't give up the cable modem!

i was given a random act of kindness the other day... and one of the best compliments i've had in a long while. it was a week or so ago... and i had gone to the doctor's... and while i was waiting for a prescription to be filled, i struck up a conversation with the man sitting next to me. he was older, and at first we just joked about a movie he had recently seen, and how kate hudson was goldie hawn's daughter... trivial stuff. then he mentioned something about kids, and about his son having a hard time working, etc... and i chimed in with understanding, since i just moved down here recently. both our prescriptions were called at the same time... so we went up to the counter together... and as we left, he not only paid for mine (it was 20 dollars!!) but he also commented 'i hope my son meets someone like you someday. merry christmas.'
that has never happened to me before. i told him thank you i think a million times... but i still don't think it was enough. so to random man in the waiting room... thank you. and to everyone else... do a random act of kindness... it really does make a difference.

my bottom left wisdom tooth hurts. it's gotten to the point where my jaw now hurts... houston, we have a problem. due to not having enough room for my teeth, there is a "pocket" behind my teeth, that my old dentist warned me would cause repeated problems, and that in the future, my teeth would probably need to come out. crap. so the first of the year, i might be getting those suckers out. but for now... i just need to find the orajel...

after working all day on it (with a break to go watch lord of the rings... which was freakin AWESOME by the way), i finally got my computer back in good shape. it actually is running really well... and i now have a working cd burner :) woohoo! i had to resort to reinstalling xp... and now i am still reinstalling all my old programs... ugh.

today i brought my santa hat, to get in the mood for our holiday party. we had to bring a gift that was under 10 dollars... so i got caffinated mints (two tins) and chopsticks, since the tech group people are pretty big fans of going out for sushi. should be a good time.

so the little kitten who we were worried would need to be put to sleep has recovered well from his surgery! my dad sent me a picture of him checking out the christmas tree for the first time... he's already doubled in size since the last time i saw him :)
cute little guy. as a 'welcome home' sort of thing, my sister and i got him a green collar (go state!) with a little gold circle that says 'rosco' on it, with my parent's number. :) i'm just glad he's ok!

despite it being a monday, i do have some good news to share... april and john fedulchak had their baby on friday... little morgan (it's a girl) was born in the afternoon, and weighed 8lbs 11oz. so congrats april! they have been trying to have a kid forever... so it was a happy, happy day. everyone is doing well, and i will get to see her over christmas!

i got nothing done this weekend. my throat hurts a lot. my cdrom drive is still not working. bleh. i hate monday mornings. 10 days til christmas. still need to go shopping... that's my project for this weekend. deal with all the holiday madness. that, and see lord of the rings. that will be the highlight, i'm sure.

today is the big msu game against kentucky, where we will break the attendance record for a basketball game, by holding it in ford field (home of the detroit lions). we did the same thing for hocky a couple years back... where the "cold war" was held in spartan stadium. it was REALLY cold, but it was a sweet game, and we all had a really fun time! anyway, the "basketbowl" is on at 3pm here (hick time) so i'm looking forward to watching it!

so i try to install my new burner... and the computer boots up, bios recognizes the drive... xp starts, and says it's installing my correct drive... and then bam. no drive letter. hmm... so i look in the device manager... and it says "device cannot start (code 10)". huh. so after searching and finding out that memorex does NOT have their drivers online OR ANY documentation on this product... i give up and put my old cdrom back in. boot up, bios recognizes the old samsung drive again... xp says it's installing it... bam. "device cannot start". WHAT THE HELL???? so now i am without ANY cdrom device. f**ckin a. i try to find updated drivers on microsoft's site... yeah right. i KNOW it has to be a driver issue... but i'm stumped. and with no cdrom. at least my internet still works... argh. off to the candle party... hopefully by some magic it will work when i come back home...

ONE WEEK FROM TODAY!! the lord of the rings opens next wednesday... and i can't freakin WAIT!! i thought about trying to go to the midnight showing... but i would be sad going by myself. that, and it's over three hours... so i wouldn't get home until 3:30am... and then have to be at work at 7am. yeah right. maybe when i was 17 i could pull that off... for some reason as i get older my tolerance for no sleep is dwindling. so i'm hoping to con a guy i work with and some other co-workers into watching the first two saturday (or at least the 2nd one) and then going sat afternoon/night to see it. regardless, i'll wind up going by myself if no one breaks down to come with me. :)
in other news, tap class is still going ok. i'm really, really disappointed with the choreography that the class is doing for the yearly performance... but i have a feeling i'll be moved into the tap four class next year, and they always have a complex, entertaining routine... so i'm sticking with this one, praying that next year it will be worth the wait. c'est la vie.

so the presentation went well... i got a lot of feedback, and an overall "it looks great" comment... so all that worrying, and it worked out fine. :) tomorrow is secret santa day, so sign up if you have an amazon wishlist, and want to get a random gift for someone! :) this year for my family christmas, my relatives decided that everyone will get a $20-30 dollar gift, and then we'll do a swap at christmas... so anyone have any ideas for a gender/age neutral gift, for 20-30 dollars?? yeah... i'm thinking about it... i also have to get a gift for work that is under 10 dollars... and i still have to shop for my sister and my parents. ahhh... christmas shopping :)

and the panthers lose. crazy game. time to get back to work on my project... i have a presentation tomorrow, and it's wracking my nerves. hopefully i can get some sleep tonight, so that i won't suck tomorrow... but we'll see. i'll probably be too nervous to be tired.
as for my last night at the 'smart... i got a nice note from lindsay... and a 'please come back' from my boss. it's nice to be appreciated :) it always works that right when i am about to leave, everyone starts bein all nice and making me wish i worked there... oh wait... NOT. i'm happy HAPPY to not be working there anymore. my schedule consists of 40 hours this week... no more, no less. phew. now i can concentrate on books, my site, getting back in shape, and my plan to get out of debt. i took down the button for donations... i figured everyone else is as broke as i am... it's christmas after all... and why should everyone donate? anyway, feel free to help william out though... his goal is WAY more attainable, and much more worthwhile...

so today marks the last day at petsmart. it's a long one... 11-7pm... but then i'm DONE. thank god. i don't get to watch football today, but oh well. i'll get to watch the sunday night game, and the monday night game! woohoo! now if i can just get my work done, that i brought home... that would help. i added a button on the side last night, to ask for donations. for a while, i couldn't bring myself to do it, since i was convinced i had my finances under control, especially with the second job. don't get me wrong, i do have a plan to get out of debt... but it is a LONG time from now, until it actually is finished. so i figured asking for help would speed up the process, and i can quit stressing so much. although, it still is kinda depressing that money will be a stress forever. it will never completely go away, unless i win the lotto or something. or win in vegas. hmmm... that might be a plan... ;)

dammit. it snowed this morning. i actually attempted to do my hair decently... and i walk out to a downpour of snow. >:( you'd think living in michigan all my life, i'd get used to the insane amounts of snow... but no. i hate it. it looks pretty... but i'll gladly stare at a picture any day, rather than out my window. oh florida job... where are you??? and i'm done. spring... i'm ready for ya... any day now...
last night i was up way too freakin late cleaning my apartment. but it's looking great now :) and in the midst of cleaning... i took my slipcovers downstairs to the laundry room... only to lock myself out of the building. doh. i had to wait for 40 min until the other person doing their laundry came down to get their clothes. but even after 3 hours of sleep, i woke up to a nice clean place... and for some reason, it always makes me feel a whole lot better when everything is put away and spotless. :) call me crazy... here comes crazy... ;)

yeah, i need this today. mmmm... mountain dew. 3 days to no more petsmart. i'm having a joint candle party with a girl from petsmart on the 12th... because i don't know enough people down here to have one on my own. my mom used to have parties like that ALL the time... where she'd host a presenter on tupperware, clothes, pampered chef... you name it, we probably demonstrated it at our house :) but this one is basically just an excuse to hang out... we're having it at applebee's ;) so that should be fun. other than that, no plans til christmas. i'll be home for christmas eve, and then staying for 4 days, til the 28th. it will be a good vacation... i wish it was tomorrow...

countdown to my last day at petsmart... 5 days! i only have to work wed, sat, and sun! today and tomorrow, we get 30% off... how nice... i made it for the big discount days :) so i'm gonna stock up on litter and get some fun toys for the cats... as if they didn't have 10 thousand toys already. they have so many, that my one cat takes the job of organizing them for me. he takes all the furry mice from around the house, and puts them in a nice pile in front of my bedroom door. :)
so after the shopping spree at petsmart, i'm cleaning the apartment tonight. look out! it's a two day job, for sure... so the whole thing probably won't be done until thursday... but that leaves me the weekend to enjoy it, and so that i won't be distracted from doing books all weekend. yay, cleaning!

in realizing my good fortune of having a free host for my websites... i am hindered by the fact that a) i can't use cold fusion and b) i can't use a database. i don't have access to the server to manage those types of things... so all of this site is a workaround to those two. granted php can do what i need to do right now... but i really, really wish i could afford to run my own server. then i could do whatever the hell i wanted with my site, and have more fun developing things. in other words, i'm super jelly of william's gallery. dammit. i've been trying to use php to develop a cool gallery... but not only am i limited by programming, but the space to store the pictures is scarce. fuckers. someday, when i win the lotto, i'll buy a server, and pay someone to host it on a sweet connection. til that day, there will be no photo album, and no cool things to play with... until i sit down and think of a neat-o way to do it with php... hmm... good thing sunday is my last day at petsmart! more time for things like this!! :)

when i got to my parent's house on thanksgiving, i came home to an eight week old kitten, that my mom had brought home. rosco is a little black cuddler... and LOVES my mom. unfortunatley, we noticed that he wasn't the bouncy, spastic thing that kittens usually are... so my mom took him into the vet, and turns out the poor guy has something stuck in his intestines :( the woman she rescued him from had a newborn, and the kitten had eaten the rubber bottle nipples, and swallowed the rubber. so they are only guessing that those are what is causing him trouble... now the only problem is, to remove them, it takes surgery... which is a minimum of 600 dollars. yowch. so my mom had to decide whether or not they can afford it, or whether to put the guy out of his misery and euthanize him. :( poor little guy... but she decided to go through with it... we'll find out in a day or two how it went... poor rosco...
update: he's ok! went in for surgery, and the little guy made it out alright. they are going to try food tomorrow... but they found the pieces of rubber from the bottle in his intestine... and he should make a full recovery! woohoo!
