i'm a picture freak apparently today... but who can get enough of puppy pictures?? ;) i got another one tonight from ann (the breeder)... here's the pup at nine days old:
awwww... i get more excited each day, if that's possible :) i started moving boxes over to the new place. the landlord is checking out the leak, and i changed the light bulb on the porch, so everything is in working order! now i'm going to bed... i have a sugar headache and no amount of milk will take it away...

i tasted these to make sure... but this looks much better...
i'm going to an all-you-can-eat chocolate party tonight... and although these weren't made with real peppermints, i put peppermint flavor in the frosting, so they taste like andes mints! mmmm... i can't wait to see what everyone else brought :)

hmm... something isn't right. these brownies look like a mess! i tried to make mint brownies with york peppermint patties... and the peppermint parts bubbled up over the top of the brownie mix and burnt... so it's definitely not edible. time to go back to the store... i think this time i'll just stick with regular brownie mix and frosting... screw this peppermint crap...

so i think i resolved the baby gate at the top of the stairs issue... i'm gonna try it out. i got a couple of suggestions, and the consensus was that i needed to cover the bottom of the railing, as well as the in-between bars, because an 8-9 week old puppy can fit right through those, in addition to the entrance to the stairs. i searched around, and found treated lattice (that you would use on an outside deck) fairly inexpensive. i'd wrap that around the whole railing, and then also cut a piece to serve as a "door" at the stair entrance. i'd put hinges on the left hand side, so the door would only open towards the top of the stairs, and then secure it with some sort of latch to the doorframe on the right, so that the dog couldn't accidentally pull it open. here's a crude drawing of what it would look like:

and they're up! i have the new inside photos of the rental house. i only found two things wrong that need to be looked at by the landlord... one is the front porch light. it doesn't work, and it's a bitch to see the keyhole on the front door in the dark. the second one is a small bad spot on the ceiling... which makes me nervous because it looks like water damage... which would mean a roof problem :( so i'm going to call him and let him know once i move in... i can probably fix the porchlight on my own... it probably just needs a new bulb. but the ceiling... i took a picture at the end of the album and if someone can tell me what they think it is... maybe it's nothing?

it's that time again! the puppy is officially a week old... and i have new pictures:
i'm hoping she sends more... but she's super busy trying to take care of them and five other dogs :) still don't know which one is mine yet, and i probably won't know until the 4th or 5th week. but it's only 6 more weeks away!

got the keys! so i can officially start moving in. the place was spotless... the landlord had his cleaning crew go through it and it looked great! I am going to start packing this week, and start moving this weekend. I'm going to an all you can eat chocolate party on saturday night... YUM! but other than that, it's books, packing, and moving for the next two weeks... and some people from work are actually going to help me move! woohoo! so by sunday the 14th, all my crap should be over to the new place... and then i just have to clean the old apartment and i'm done. phew.
i also contacted the woman in massachusetts... and i will most likely be flying out the day after easter to pick up the puppy. everyone thinks it is too far to drive... so i'm looking into flights... should be interesting!

holy cow! i almost forgot it was paczki day! what the heck is a paczki? mmmm... the most fat in a single food but OH SO GOOD :) tomorrow is ash wednesday... so easter is coming up. i might be getting the puppy a little early... and drive the monday after easter to get her... now THAT would be fun! :) still haven't heard from the landlord today, but since he's a teacher, i'm sure i'll be hearing from him later today, after school is out.. and then off to the new house! :)

38 days to vegas! it will be weird flying alone and meeting my family there... but i'm really looking forward to it! i will get to see some cousins i haven't seen in years, and overall just have a good four day weekend :) i'm exhausted today... i stayed up too late doing books, and only got about three hours of sleep. somehow i have to work all day, and then go home to more books... but hey, money is money ;) i'm also supposed to be getting the keys to the rental house tomorrow... so i'm looking forward to that! i'll have to bring my camera over, and take pictures before i start cluttering it up with my stuff... and oh the loads of crap i have... i HATE packing...

nader is running for president... i think i need to start paying attention to what is going on this year for the election... i know NOTHING as of right now. other than someone is gossiping about botox and bush's service record, and other ridiculous things that really have nothing to do with their ability to lead the country. i wish i could find someone i really believe in, rather than just choosing between the lesser of two evils. *sigh* ah, america...

i should have left room to add an explanation of the dog names up there... some are cooler once you know the meaning behind them. sophie came from me looking up 'new england' names, since she's from massachusetts. hadley is a suggestion, based on the fact that a girl who works in the vet office has that as a last name, and it's also a city in massachusetts. bionda (bee ohn' dah - bee for short) means 'blonde woman' in italian (yellow labs are often referred to as 'blonde' dogs). internesia is an internet term... referring to the short term amnesia when you can't think of a url :) cod fish (fish for short) was a suggestion, due to 'cape cod' being in massachusetts.
i should have done this a long time ago! now i really can't decide on a name ;) bionda is winning so far... keep voting!

woohoo!!! the place where i am getting my puppy from emailed me this morning, to let me know that the puppies were born... and the yellows were all girls! which means, i get to take one home at the end of april!! my plan is, since i am coming home for corinne's wedding the weekend of the 24th, to just keep on driving to massachusetts on the 25th. I AM SO EXCITED! she sent me some pictures, and i'll be getting one probably every week... so here they are... and be on the lookout for more ;) i took a poll and the consensus is "sophie" for the name... everyone liked it :)... so here's sophie:

well, i knew the hawaii girl would make it... even though i don't think she's that good. i wanted lisa (red hair) to make it through... she was awesome. i liked the matthew guy... so i'm not upset that he made it... but i think "bar singer" girl did better than he did last night. everyone else sucked. i love that show ;)

well today it's official... 11 months i have been here... on st. patrick's day will be my one year anniversary. crazy. a week from today i get the keys to my little (and i mean little) house. anyone have any spare baby gates? i need at least one, to section off the stairs to the basement (there is no door... or doorway for that matter) for the puppy (and to allow the cats to get away to a safe place, should they need to hide)...

corinne's shower was fun. one of the bridesmaids had knee surgery, so wasn't able to help out... so i sort of stepped up as a pseudo-bridesmaid :) this weekend really made me miss my friends back home... i've been here 11 months, and i'm still getting used to the area. they say the first year is the toughest... i just wish i could transport all my friends down here, or my job up there. i always forget how nice it is to be around familiar faces and areas... i feel like i am missing out on everything, being so far away. every time i go home, i have to play catch up from when i last went home. maybe i need to stop referring to michigan as home... that might be part of the problem.
anyway, the weekend was fun, and now it's monday again. i get the keys a week from tomorrow, and move in starting next week. i'm excited, but i HATE moving. the packing, unpacking, going up and down three flights of stairs... bleh. it sucks ass. but i'll have my own place... and THAT is worth it ;)

i didn't know him well, but it's always sad to hear of people you know that pass away. especially when it's unexpected. i took muay thai for a little over a year... and one of the guys in my class was a 16 year old kid... i say kid, but he was way bigger than me, and an incredible fighter... i dreaded sparring with him cause he used to kick my ass, and i always came home with bruises from him. well i found out that he actually passed away a little bit ago... he went to bed having a little difficulty breathing... and died at night. his father apparently wasn't able to revive him. so that made me sad... even though he kicked my ass every week, he managed to do it and still stay friendly :) so there's a sad story for ya on a friday the 13th... :(
in other news, i leave for michigan today, so no updates til monday. i won't be back until late sunday night, since the wedding shower isn't until the afternoon, and then it's another six hour drive back. i don't know how i used to do these every weekend... i'm dreading them now...

and i'm locked in :) i signed the lease... and set up trash removal, and transfer of service for the cable... tomorrow i'll set up the power bill and water bill... and then as of 2/24, i'm free to move in :) here's the album of photos that i took when it was nice outside of the place... no inside pictures though... i'll take a few when i get the keys. i'm SWAMPED with work to do lately... almost to the point where i don't want to drive home, cause i just want to stay behind and get it all done... but i'll be leaving at 4 tomorrow, and driving on up to michigan for corinne's shower. should be fun to see everyone... just wish i could figure out a way to work and drive at the same time ;)

well, i finally heard from my landlord, and i will be signing the lease tonight. he actually closed on the house a week early, so i'm getting the keys on the 24th of february... a week early :) i won't start moving stuff til march... but it's good to know i can start getting over there and cleaning :) and, he bought the burnt down house next door... so at least now i will know when they expect to move someone in there, and he said he can guarantee me nice neighbors :) so that's fun... need to update the countdown... it's now only about two weeks away!

that was a pathetic, pathetic game. oh spartans... where did our team go? we sucked ASS last night. i'm sure i'll hear all about it today at work. watched american idol before the game... i'm pulling for kim webber... she's cute, she can sing, and she can DANCE! i can't decide who the second person should be... i thought the guy who was "classically trained" (which is a nice word for ballet dancer) was really good (and he's HOT)... but the girls kicked ass last night. so far, everyone that has sang has blown me away... this year should be great! :)

it's monday... i'm swamped with work... trying to get everything set before moving. it's still about 3 weeks away... but since i will be gone all weekend, i feel like it's right around the corner. corinne's wedding shower is sunday... so i'll be leaving fri night for michigan, and will be back late sunday night. tomorrow night, state is playing u of i in basketball... should be a semi-good game. so this week should go by relatively fast... hopefully i can get the lease signed sometime soon... so i can figure out what i need to get lined up... as far as trash and mail and utilities are concerned. we'll see how it goes. as much as i hate moving... this weekend was LOUD in my apartment building for the first time ever... the people next to me must never be home, because for the first time i heard everything they were doing next door... i heard the microwave go off, the phone ring, the water running... even with music playing in my room. so i am looking forward to living in a house... with no next door neighbors. :)

i've come to realize... i am an obsesser. which ties in nicely with my google addiction... i obsess. about EVERYTHING. who else has 10 books, 5 videos, 15 website links, and a bajillion searches on google about training, supplies, photos... you name it, of my future (not current) dog? from dogs, to illnesses, to things that are wrong in my life... i obsess over them. sometimes it can be good... i try to be well informed when i am about to do something... but the majority of the time, i just upset myself... and freak out over little things. i drive myself crazy, and i annoy the people i talk to. *sigh* so a sorry goes out to my friends, for dealing with my neurotic tendencies... isn't the first step awareness? ;)

it's the freakin weekend... but i have no plans. it's books all day... and some sex in the city on sunday night ;) but that's good... more dollars ALWAYS helps :) the move in day is getting closer... a little over three weeks away... and i still haven't signed the lease yet. i'll have to give him a call if i don't hear from him by the end of the week... he doesn't actually even close on the house til the end of the month, but i'd like to get some stuff set up (like scheduling movers, etc). so that should be interesting... then it's packing time... and cleaning time... oh joy...

so close... the panthers almost had it. dammit. oh well... but as for the hangover... i'm feeling better... but there is a mystery in my closet. what looks like i dumped a full glass of water onto my floor... yet there is no cup or glass anywhere sitting out... so if i did dump water in there, for whatever reason... i would have had to get a glass, dump the water, then put it back. or i got the water bottle from my fridge, dumped it out, and put it back. i'm baffled. it doesn't smell, so i other than water, i am stumped as to what happened. hmmm... gotta love drunken messes...

well, i think last night went ok. i say i think, because after a certain point in the evening... things are not quite so clear. i got home ok... but i'm a little worried about how i got here. up to where i remember, i was having a good time... so as long as i didn't embarrass myself too badly, i would say the party was pretty fun :) i feel like death today though... margaritas and beer are not a good a combo. so hopefully my coworkers will cut me some slack... most of them were as drunk if not more so than i was :) as for today... it's superbowl time... and i'm cheering for the panthers ;)
