one more day of work... and then it's vegas baby! i'm comin back a millionaire! ;) well, at least i'll have fun with my family. it'll be a busy day tomorrow... and then four days of partying... i'm gonna need a break when i get back! good thing i have all day sunday to recuperate. i can't wait... then on monday, it's the final game! our work rented out a couple spots at a bar down here, so our committee is sponsoring the beer and food. way better than throwin a party by myself! ;) should be a good next couple of weeks... no more updates til sunday!!

i got word from a friend of mine that went to go see the puppy... they have picked out which one is mine... and wouldn't you know... it's the fattest roly poly one! :) she apparently is a real cuddler... and LOVES the water... she is always the puppy that is swimming around in her water dish, or sleeping in it :) so if you look at past pictures... the really chubby one (in the early pictures) or the one near the water dish is my little pup... i'll have to re-find all the nearby lakes so that i can take the girl there... i also think it might be fun to think of water-related names... i thought about naming her 'freestyle' (free for short)... since that was the stroke i swam when i was on the swim team in high school... still thinking... :)

this is the year to get married, apparently. between now and august, i'll be attending six weddings... which is already on top of the four trips i had planned to michigan, for easter, mother's day, father's day, and the fourth of july. so basically, i'll be in michigan almost every other weekend from now til august. crazy. so i put up the reminder dates for the weddings on here... they will take place of the countdowns, now that those are winding down. i hope the dog likes the car... or else my trips are going to be hell... good thing we are getting her used to long car rides right away! :)

this person pretty much summed up what i felt about the movie 'lost in translation'. i went into this movie expecting a quirky story... especially with bill murray as the main character... but it was in all the subtleties: the gestures, the expressions... all the little things that really got to me, and made the most in this movie. if you don't like movies like that, then you'll hate this one... but i do, and i loved it :)

well, i had fun at the bar last night hanging out with a couple people from work. illinois lost, but i picked duke to win, so i wasn't too disappointed. it made me miss the east lansing bars, and cheering for state though... next year i'll have to make a couple trips to michigan to cheer for them :) but today i decided to be a little productive... and i cleaned up the area outside my house... there were a ton of dead leaves and styrofoam peanuts in my hedges... and in the back, there were months of leaves and other garbage piling up next to the house... so i cleaned all of that up... it took about three hours. it was almost 70 degrees outside, and it stopped raining, so it felt good to get it all done. another day i'll have to go around the yard and remove all the thousands of sticks lying around, so that when it comes time to mow, i don't break the mower. won't that be fun. but it was good to spend some outside time...
i just finished watching 'lost in translation'. i'm still absorbing it... i really liked it... it really got to me. so now i'm awake... are you? ;)

holy cow have i been busy. with work, and planning for puppy and vegas... sheesh... so much to do, so little time! tonight, u of i is playing in the tournament... so i'll be at the bar with some friends from work :) i actually picked them to lose in my bracket... but when in rome... ;)
i'm sad i'll be in vegas for the final four games... i'll see if i can rope any of my relatives into going and watching the games with me at a bar for a couple hours... gambling and basketball go hand in hand anyway!
two and a half weeks til puppy day... now it's actually a day earlier... since my driving companion needs to be back for class on tuesday, we are leaving early sunday morning... so it's even closer! it's my own present from the easter bunny... i get her easter day! :) i'm a picture taking fiend with my camera... so not to worry... i'm sure the trip will be well documented. you'd think that since i use it so often, i'd get better at taking pictures with it. you'd think that... ;)

time is flyin by! i leave for vegas a week from thurs... then when i get back from that trip, i leave for michigan four days later for a bachelorette party, easter is that sunday, and then puppy day!! holy cow! less than three weeks away, and she'll be here!!! i bet most people can't wait until she is, so i stop talking about her, like i have been for the past nine months... yeah right ;) once she gets here, i'll try to contain myself... i said try...
i think work has been helping me feel like time is going fast... i have been ridiculously busy at work... and a huge deadline is coming up the same day i leave for vegas (how convenient) ;) so while that is stressing me out, time keeps on goin by!

why is it that each year i do brackets, my picks get worse? oh well, at least since msu is out of the tournament, i'm rooting for illinois today... and they're doing awesome!
AND... i got more pictures today!! oh my GOD she is CUTE! i posted more pics of her... she's only 32 days old... and the breeder sent out an email telling everyone to call her to schedule a visit. i really wish i could just drive over there and see her... makes me wish i would have picked someone closer to get her from. oh well... if she's a happy healthy pup, it will have been worth it!!

stanford. maryland. what. the. fuck. i've been watching basketball today... and my bracket is all shot to hell. i held my breath for stanford... that was ridiculous. and i had maryland all the way to the finals. crap.
in other news, i went over and cleaned my old apartment, and so now i just have to go turn the keys in. the office was closed when i went to do it today, so it looks like a job for monday. back to watching basketball, praying to god the rest of picks pull through...

thank god american idol didn't send jennifer home. i was about to be really upset. all my favorite people made it... so far latoya, diana, and fantasia are my top three... with jennifer and jasmine not far behind. i love this show :)

a year ago today, i started my job at hk. yep, it's officially a year. i celebrated a little last year, but it looks like i'll be doin it solo this year. i'm swamped with work, and really need to get stuff done. next year maybe i'll plan something at my house... maybe when it falls on a friday... anyway, here's to another year at my job! :)

yes. i found two half-dead roaches in my basement this week. crap. i wasn't sure if they were or not, so i looked it up online... hoping to GOD they were beetles. and then i found this picture and that is exactly the bug i found. two, actually... although one is dead, and one is only partly dead. i called the landlord, and left a message... he should be calling me back tonight or tomorrow, and hopefully he can have someone come over to spray, or tell me who to call. i feel like i'm gonna throw up... i HATE bugs.. let alone these nasty things. :( i want to cry...

it's a week late, but it finally snowed for the last time this season... it's funny, almost every time i visit illinois in march, it snows. last year i made it down here just in time, and missed the last snowfall... but today it's making up for it. it's really crappy out... cold, wet, and snowy :( but after this week, it should start getting into the 50's... and the rainy days of april will be here. i forget that now that i have a puppy, i have to walk her, rain or shine. days like today make me wonder if i'll have the guts to walk around the block when it's 30 degrees out and snowing... should be interesting...
on another note... wooden floors are nice and all.. but my feet have been FREEZING since i moved in. i busted out the slippers finally on sunday. they help... but it stays a tad bit cooler than i'm used to with a fully carpeted apartment...

i was wiped out on sunday, so i just took the day to relax. saturday was an early day, and i didn't finish unpacking and getting everything cleaned up til after 10... the cats seem to be ok now... they both really like the backyard birds... i'm going to have to fill the bird feeder up to really entertain them :) too bad i don't have a screen door for the doorwall... just a screen insert for the front door. when it gets warmer (when the hell is it going to do that, by the way??) it would be nice to have the doorwall open, to let a breeze come through. but if they are too expensive, i will just have to live without it. i also need another lamp for the living room... i don't like the overhead lights, and since there is a dip in the ceiling, if i put the lamp on one side, the other half is too dark. add it to the list ;) but at least everything is working and in good shape... no complaints so far... and i just officially jinxed myself...

well, i woke up bright and early this morning, and brought everything else over, including the cats. haven't seen poof since this morning, but bailey is following me everywhere. so far, he LOVES the front door. can't tear him away from it. thanks to everyone who helped me out... you guys saved my ass! we wound up with only two trucks, so it took us two trips, but it was fun :) here are the pictures of the place, now that everything is put away. i still have to go back to the apartment and get all my shower stuff and toothbrush and crap... it's sad, it's so empty... but the new place is lookin good :)

so i come home from work, with work that i need to finish from home... and i sit down to watch american idol... and BLAM! my cable is turned off. i call, and come to find out, the fuckers disconnected my cable two days early! i had scheduled a transfer of service for friday... and even though they have that in their computers, they had the disconnect scheduled for today, and the reconnect scheduled for friday! wtf??? so now i have no internet, and no tv, and they can't get a guy out to help me until tomorrow morning. but since i have stuff i need to be doing, i came back into work, and decided to work there. it's better than sitting at my bare apartment and staring at the walls! all my stuff is at the new place.. books, videos, etc... man... it makes me so mad! as much as i love my job... i didn't want to spend more time here tonight :(

well, i finally got around to updating my family website. it's nothing spectacular, but there is a bunch of stuff always going on with my family, and everyone always wants pictures and stuff up... so i also created a yahoo group for us! thanks to brad, for that idea... i hope people get use out of it! if anything it gives us a way to find people who might be related... every once and a while someone emails me asking about our family tree. since decormier isn't a very common name, chances are, if you have it, you are related somehow ;)
in other news, tomorrow marks three weeks for the puppy... only four and a half more weeks til i go get her! i'm also looking forward to moving this saturday... a couple of guys from work have volunteered to help move my giant stuff... all i have to do is feed them pizza and beer. hell, i would have gotten it anyway, so it's more fun to share! :)

and i'm done. everything is over to the new place... all my clothes, end tables, nightstand, coffee table, books, kitchen... everything except the large pieces of furniture that will not fit in my car. and not only is it moved, but it is all unpacked and put away. so now when the furniture arrives on saturday, i'm done. and god, am i sore. i moved for ten hours straight yesterday... driving back and forth, dropping off boxes and unpacking them as i drop them off... but it was worth it.. now i'm done. just the big stuff... and my tv and computer. the cable gets turned on on friday, so i need internet until then! ;) i have bruises everywhere... and my back is REALLY sore. oh well... it's done.

boxes, boxes, everywhere. i've only managed to move about 10 over to the new place... it's slow going, but it's going. i'm planning on doing a big move this weekend, leaving myself enough stuff at my apartment to get by for a week, and then moving the rest of the stuff next weekend. should be interesting. i just want it over with already. i'll miss this little place though... i spent A LOT of time here this past year... but life's about change, right? well, i'm about to do a lot of it, and it scares me.

there is a lot of artistic talent in my family... on both sides... and yet none seem to have transferred down to me! i got an email from my dad about my two cousins... not immediate cousins, but close enough that i see them at the reunion fairly regularly... and they both won a couple of awards. their bios are interesting... read 'about the artist' on these pages:
