well, we made our first trip to petsmart... it was great! all the people i used to work with were there, and were like "is that YOUR puppy??"... so she got a TON of socialization... plus there were a couple other fun dogs that she got to meet... she loved it! she was such a good girl... wasn't jumping up... gave everyone kisses... she was such a ham :) she's also doing A LOT better in the car... these short trips seem to be helping.
this weekend i'll be in illinois... i have a wedding shower tomorrow, but after that, i am CLEANING. having to attend to the dog 24/7 hasn't left me much time for anything else... including sleeping... so the time i normally would crate her to go to work, i am going to crate her and clean the place... do some laundry... and SLEEP... i woke up sicker than i was yesterday... my sinuses are all screwed up. being tired with a sinus headache SUCKS. a lot. coffee anyone?

when we went out for corinne's bachelorette party, my friend laura informed me of a GREAT feature... so ladies (and guys)... if you have ever gotten asked for your phone number, and wanted to get the message out CLEAR... give them this number... i called it and was ROLLIN! it's hilarious!! wish they had a local one for urbana/champaign... but it's helpful for when i'm in the detroit area ;)

yuck. i think the lack of sleep combined with standing outside in the cold wet grass night after night has left me sick. my sinuses are killing me, my throat is on fire, and my eyes are constantly watering. bleh. puppies are a HANDFUL! she is going to be a holy terror when her chewing phase starts... she already started on the carpet in the bathroom... if i spray bitter tasting stuff on it, she leaves it alone for a second... then comes back later when the taste has faded a bit. smart girl :) it's been a constant battle to keep her entertained... in another month, when she is ready to go to the dog park, and in two weeks when we go to puppy class, we will be MUCH better... i'll have someplace to take her to tire her out. it will also help when she actually starts walking on her leash... then we can go for walks in my neighborhood, and i can tire her out that way :) but for now... it's "hey! no! lily! no bite!"
and for those of you who know my friends marc and trish... apparently they are moving to pheonix arizona after their wedding in july... so congrats to them for finding a job out there, and good luck to them! at least they know people out there, so they aren't quite as bad off starting over somewhere new... we'll miss ya! :)

congratulations jackie!! she had to file a petition to get her fiance, craig, over here... and it has been 99 days of waiting... and today she got approved! now all she has to do is go for an interview down to jamaica again... and he might be here by june, to be married in august! congratulations, mrs. future sommerville! ;)

well i was semi-productive today... i put up all of corinne's wedding photos, plus photos of her bachelorette party... but that album has a password, since i wouldn't want her fiance stumbling across that bad boy ;) j/k... but i DO have to protect the innocent! i also put up pics of lily again, since she's another week older... they grow so damn fast that i feel like i have to keep at least weekly pictures, so i can remember what she looked like for such a short time!
i even got out to target and staples to get a couple things... and when i came back, i met my other neighbors across the street from me. they scared me, however, talking to me about our neighborhood. i don't know if they are super paranoid or what... but they warned me about leaving my door open when i am home... and also warned me about being outside by myself without some sort of pepper spray or other protection. apparently a couple of days ago the police were outside his house, making sure he got into his car ok... he has a remote starter for his truck, and while it was running, a man was wandering around it... and the police drove by and thought he looked suspicious, so they wanted to make sure my neighbor's truck wasn't about to get stolen. how's THAT for paranoid. as if i wasn't nervous enough. at least i know i have people watchin out for me :) anyone know where i can get some mace??

today was a lot better... no crazy accidents this morning... besides lily chasing the cats (and me chasing her), this morning was pretty peaceful :) i took her to the vet yesterday, and the chunker weighs 19 lbs at just under 10 weeks!
this weekend is a wedding shower for a girl at work. i almost forgot about it... so that means i've got to make a trip out to the store sometime this week. i'm also going in to the dentist this morning for my 6 month cleaning. after the last cleaning... this one should be a breeze! last time i went in for a cleaning at 9am... i walked out of there 3 hours later! it was the worst dentist experience ever. so i switched clinics... so we'll see how today goes.

well, my site was down due to an unknown error in my pages... it was causing the whole server to crash!! for some reason, the way the comments are done, it couldn't find the files, and was causing the server to process for a long time, and i was bringing down the rest of the sites on the server! oops! so for now, comments are disabled. i don't know if i will bring them back or not... i never really got that many... so i may start a message board on here instead. that way, people can still leave messages... and rather than comment-style, there will be a link from the post as the subject for a message header. but my site is back up for now!! i was worried that it got deleted... but the guy that hosts my site is AWESOME and is still letting me host it here for free. eric, THANK YOU!!! :)
this weekend was ok... corinne's wedding was really nice... i had a good time despite the attempts at trying to fix me up with some of the groomsmen and the groom's friends... i'll post the pictures sometime tonight or tomorrow. lily did good on the ride there and back... the ride home went MUCH smoother, since jackie did a good job of tiring her out all day saturday :) thanks for that jackie! she slept almost the whole way home!
this morning was a fiasco though. i came out of the shower to an awful smell... and found a huge pile of puke :( poor lily got sick all over her dog bed... so i had to throw the cover in the wash, and scrub the floor... but even after i had cleaned up all the mess, i went outside and came back in, and the wood floors still reeked. so i am going to have to figure out how to get that wonderful smell out. i also have to find a place with a big enough washer for the dog bed. yuck. and to make matters worse, lily kept trying to drink the cleaner i was using... it's non-toxic but still not good for her to be lapping up... so i had to throw her in her cage while i cleaned the mess up... and she was NOT happy with that... so she proceeded to bark her head off for the 20 min it took to clean it all up. argh. it's a good thing she's cute. ;)
so i was not in the best mood this morning... and i'm still tired/cranky from this weekend, and just in general. i'm trying to snap out of it... but it's a monday... this week is not looking good as far as work goes... and next week i'm not looking forward to either. argh. no plans for this weekend... i'm going to attempt to find a place i can take lily... maybe up to the u of i union... so that she can socialize with people. all depends on the weather. definitely a trip to petsmart is in store... might take her up there for that tonight, to put me in a better mood :)

i'm off to michigan tonight... stopping by and dropping off lily at jackie's so that she can watch her while i'm at corinne's wedding all day saturday. should be fun, and i'll be back sunday! i'm praying the car ride goes smoothly... yesterday she did really good with a harness on... i'm hoping she just sleeps the whole time!! here's to wishful thinking...

got a new dress! it's cute, and i think i can wear it to all the weddings this summer... hell of a lot cheaper than buying 5 new dresses to wear to all of them! i played with lily after work for about an hour yesterday, and then when she settled down, i snuck out to go dress shopping. then we played for another good hour, and then she crashed again... and i went to bed! i've been getting to bed around 9:30 every night... but i have to, in order to wake up at 4:30am! i'm still having to wake up in the middle of the night to let her out... so at 12:30am, there i am, standing outside in the wet grass. lily is gaining weight... she is starting to get heavier when i carry her out to the lawn. but i don't trust her to hold it all the way down to the yard... housetraining is hard work! she should be close to fully trained by the time she hits four months.. so only seven more weeks of this... she turned 9 weeks today :)
my hair appointment is also today... my hair is too damn long. i like it long... but not THIS long. my sister assumed it was because i don't like getting it cut. but in reality, my hairdresser switched salons! i had planned on making an appointment a couple weeks ago, but had to wait til either she called me, or i found another place. and wouldn't you know, as soon as i find a place, bam, she calls me :) so rather than cancel the appointment, i'm just scheduling with her for my next one ;) i really like her, but this would have been the second time i cancelled with this salon... and i need to get it cut before friday! oh well... hopefully they don't screw it up! :(

i met the neighbors who live on the corner, on the other side of the street... it is a russian woman named olga... she seems pretty young... and has a 15 month old daughter named nadia. she came over to show her girl the puppy... they were both cracking us up! she is married, and is studying economics at the u of i. so that's good that i know one more person. she and another guy who roams my block warned me about walking the puppy to the nearby park, and in a certain direction... it seems south and west of my house is a better place... and that i have to steer clear of anything north and east. :( so that makes me a little nervous... the woman said she was at the nearby park a couple of months ago... and the police walked up to her and asked if she had seen a woman walking around... and then someone else shouted they had, and she had whipped out a gun. nice. but that just means i'll be walking her where the rest of the eight bajillion people on my block walk their dogs... so i'm not too worried. i did decide that i refuse to walk her when it's dark out... so we just stay in the yard for those midnight potty breaks, and 4:30am run arounds :)
i found out my friend that i used to look forward to playing with every summer when i was younger is overseas, and is soon to be joined by his brother... they are both in the armed forces. which doesn't surprise me, since our favorite game to play when we were younger was "guns"... and each year, he got a new one from his grandparents, who lived next door to me :) but he is in a very dangerous part right now... so i'm hoping nothing happens to him. i haven't seen him since i was 15 or 16... but his grandmother still lives next door, so we get random updates on him, and i got his email not too long ago. so hopefully i can keep in contact with him, and make sure everything is going ok with him and his brother. hope you make it home safely ryan and zach!

well this weekend was fun... i spent it playing outside in the BEAUTIFUL weather with lily... it was 85 degrees today and we had a blast! she still sleeps a lot during the day... but it's fun to play with her when she's not sleeping :) she's still little enough to control ;) right now she's sleeping at me feet :) my landlord and his wife stopped by to see her, and she loved the company!
anyway, this week should go by pretty quickly... i have to get a dress for the wedding on saturday, and work is still busy as always. alright... time for the sopranos!!

well, puppy is doing ok. she's now on stretches of sleeping in her crate for four hours at a time, without a problem... so i still need to get up in the middle of the night to let her out, but it's way better than having to be up all night with her. for some reason though, when i took her in the car yesterday to run to the store, she freaked out. so i'm gonna have to start taking her on short little trips, to get her used to riding around in the car. good for 13 hours, but 5 minutes is way too scary. i don't get it. housetraining is still going... and she is still getting used to her collar and leash. it's only been a couple of days, so i'm not expecting the world... and she's getting better, slowly but surely :)

alright... back from her first vet visit... this little pudge is 15 LBS at 8 WEEKS!! they estimate she'll be around 100lbs!!! so much for a smaller lab! jesus! she is the cutest thing ever though... but i will have to make sure i start the training NOW, before she is big enough to walk ME ;) everything else checked out great... she was such a ham at the clinic :) now she's snuggled by my feet... just enough time for me to do stuff online for the moment. then it's back outside! good thing it's a nice day!

i'm back with the puppy... she is the cutest thing ever! i have some pictures that i will post later... right now... i need my bed. i've had about 6 hours of sleep in the past two days... the nice thing about puppies in the car is that they sleep the whole ride. but that also means that they are now up the entire night, wanting to play... and all i want is a nap after driving all around all freakin weekend. so i'm ridiculously deprived of sleep... but so far, everything is going good :) i'm off to bed now... gotta get up in 3 hours to take the dog outside again. ah, the joys of dog ownership :)

thanks to everyone for voting on a dog name! there were a lot of good ones up there... and it was fun getting everyone's feedback! i really liked the name bionda... that was the top name for a while... but now that i know more about her personality, i am now considering two names, "Paddlin' Madeline" (Maddie) or "Water Lily" (Lily), since she is always trying to get into or play with her water bowl! i'm still not final on the name though... there have been some suggestions about naming her something to do with her weight, since she's such a chunk... but we'll see. i also took the countdown down, since it's only a couple days away.
i can't believe how fast time has flown in the past couple months. when i get back from massachusetts, april will be half over already! with all the stuff coming up, time will fly even faster... no more countdowns after this one!

and the busyness doesn't stop! i've been busy with work and with last minute puppy plans... i am now all set to go get her... food, treats, and toys in tow! i'm ready for another five day weekend. after that, i don't have another day off til memorial day weekend... and then not til the fourth of july. i also registered the puppy for training class starting in may, so i'll also have that on a weeknight (most likely thursdays) every week for about 8 weeks. should be fun!
gotta go get a present for corinne for her bachelorette party... should be a good time bar hopping this friday! then it's off to massachusetts... *phew* so much to do...

wow. vegas was really fun! i had such a good time... i really want to go back again some day! i wound up winning a bunch of money... a couple hundred dollars! plus i took a million and a half pictures... and a lot of them came out pretty good! the wedding was short and sweet... and it was really good to see my family. here are the vegas trip photos... some are blurry due to people bumping into me... but the majority are pretty cool. i LOVED the vegas lights... next time, i'll have to see a show while i'm there, and a couple of the hotel/casinos that i missed. it was such a great time though! i wound up staying up all night last night, at the blackjack table with my sister... i think we played it for four straight hours... and then i had to rush to catch my flight... and i was still drunk when my flight took off! :) oops. so i'm super tired... but it was a great time!!
