and they're done :) i finished my wedding invitation templates, as well as the template for the save the date cards. i posted a photo of my crafty workspace... it's tiny, but it does the job :) i've been so busy, it's crazy... and it's not slowing down anytime soon. i'm off to new york tomorrow, and then to michigan next weekend. last night and tonight i have been lily AND joe-less... for the first time in two years, it's just me and the cats. weird how that's when i seem to get the most done online :) it's so quiet... i had the worst time falling asleep last night, and insomnia has struck again tonight. amazing how you get used to having people around with you. anyway, last weekend i celebrated robyn's birthday down at coyote ugly, lost two more softball games (we had to forfeit one, due to lack of players, but wound up playing a scrimmage anyway), and got all my exercise in! lily's been having some eye trouble, but as soon as i give her some benedryl, she's a-ok again, which leads me to believe it's just allergies. poor dog. also found out news that laura's brother matt was attacked in chicago, and had his hand fractured so badly, he'll need surgery to correct it :( so send good thoughts out his way... nothing like getting hit with a baseball bat to make ya feel good about livin in the city. *sigh*
ok, i'll try to remember to update more, and post more photos... but my time has become a precious commodity... hopefully things will calm down a bit towards the end of june! until then... bear with me... or call me :) calls are always good for catching up with people :)

i'm happy to announce the new engagement of... laura! she and mike got engaged monday night! congratulations!! from what i hear, it looks like the wedding is being set for this december... i can't wait to get the rest of the details!
it's been a busy week this week, but i did still find time to go to the gym finally. i started the six month workout routine, that starts off with about 30 min of weight training m/w/f, and then 20-25 min of cardio 3 times a week (on the off days). eventually it will work up to 45 min of weight training 4 days a week, and cardio on 5 days, for 45 min. i ran for 20 min last night, and even though i felt like i could have gone for another 10 min, i'm easing back into this slowly. little goals will help keep the motivation going. i won't be at the weight i want to be for dress shopping in two weeks, but hey, they always say it's easier to take dresses in than it is to let them out :) i've got 11 months to get down 15 lbs... definitely enough time :)
anyway, joe leaves with lily a week from today to go back to new york for memorial weekend. i'm meeting him up there on friday... so it will be weird wed and thurs home alone. i really can't remember the last time i was by myself without them. i'm on a schedule now... i wake up every morning at 6:30am, always right before the alarm clock goes off. even on weekends, i'm awake and up at that time with lily... maybe next week i'll take that opportunity to go for a run outside. morning runs are nice when i've slept well the night before. :)
nothing else to report... still chugging away on wedding invitations and ideas... set up a few meetings with vendors and looking forward to our engagement session :)

staying up with joe last week through the night i think made me more susceptible to colds... and low and behold saturday night i wound up with a sore throat. which then escalated into a full blown sinus cold sunday, and i'm still coughing and sniffling today. no where near the sick i was last year, but it still sucks. i missed softball on sunday, and joe only went to cheer the team on, since his shoulder is still bugging him. he's able to drive, but has a rough time turning over on his own, and his range of motion is limited. he has a follow up appointment today, and he's made improvement, so that's promising :) we went to a national's baseball game on saturday with dave and will... we wound up leaving after the ninth, when it went into overtime... which is good because my throat was on fire at that point. but it was such a beautiful day... i'm glad we spent most of it outside. sunday after i slept most of the day, we went over to joe's aunt and uncle's to celebrate a birthday, and met a man named 'aggie'. i had no idea he was a photographer, but we saw some samples of his work, and he's fantastic! he has photos of so many famous people... even bob marley :) so that was really interesting to meet and talk with him :)
now we're both back to the normal work schedule. it's so busy, and i'm really stressing. i can't wait until memorial day to just get away for a day or two... and then i'm flying back to michigan. after that, we're having visitors! :) joe's friends shawn and bobby are coming out and staying with us for a weekend... that should be a great time. meanwhile, i'm still planning things for the wedding. still trying to nail down the hotel room blocks... our wedding weekend it looks like the world bank spring conference might be that weekend... and hotels get booked fast for that, all over the city. so being close to the airport, we will definitely need those blocks reserved to make sure people aren't staying an hour away. we have our engagement photos in about five weeks... still trying to get in shape for those ;) that, and i'm going dress shopping in a little over three weeks... it's the only chance i'll have to do it in michigan with my mom and bridesmaids. too much else is going on this summer to go back again, and i need to have it ordered by the end of august. one thing i'm really looking forward to, is attending filene's basement "running of the brides" at the beginning of august. my mom is hopefully flying out here to help me, and i'm hoping i can snag a beautiful dress for less than $300 :) most girls do, so i'm stoked!
other than that, things are good. going to a wine party at a friend's house saturday night, and sunday is mother's day, so no softball. nice and relaxing :)

well, we're finally back... joe apparently sprained his shoulder sometime on sunday or monday (our guess is during his dive for a ball during our softball game), and little by little the inflammation built up, until finally today he couldn't get out of bed, he can't drive, and he can't even lift his arms above his head. doing any motion using his shoulders caused sharp, nauseating pain. it's not slipped-disc/spinal injury pain... but he's on some anti-inflammatory, some pain meds, and a muscle relaxer. i took the rest of the day as a sick day, since he still might have to get into work (and he can't drive himself)... so right now i'm just helping out and waiting to see if he needs me to drive him up there. it helps that it's a nice day out... makes us missing work not so bad :)
last night i also got a new phone! i combined with joe on a family plan (we'll save about $20/month this way) so i'll be contacting everyone within the next couple of days to give them my new number. my old phone will still work until my contract runs out, but i will leave a voicemail on there with the new information in case people forget.

he did something to his upper back/neck. he woke up this morning in severe pain... couldn't even roll over on his own :( we called the emergency number for his insurance, but they just gave us some tips (which we were already doing) to help with the pain, and then told us to call his doctor. so we're waiting for his office to open, to see if they can get him in today or not :( if not, we may be off to the ER... he's in a lot of pain :(
so in the meantime, we're just doing a wait and see. i checked some email, and found out about a neat product that i ordered free samples of: true lemon and true lime. they are little packets of lemon and lime crystals that you can add to your water, food, whatever. i'm a big fan of the crystal light on-the-go packets, and they really help me choke down 2 liters of water a day. i first saw them on nicole's site but it wasn't until i saw them again in hungry-girl that i was reminded i wanted to try them out.
anyway, off to the doctor... i'll give an update once we know something.

man, we lost again. both games... but at least we had fun :) i'm really enjoying our softball games, even though we still need to get better. we had a gorgeous weekend... we went out to eat at la lomitas friday night, and unwound with some margueritas. yum! then saturday we headed out to the "christmas in april" event that we did last year. i spent the whole day painting, but the weather was beautiful! my entire right arm was killing me, and i was worried about how i was going to throw a ball in the game on sunday. but we still had a good time, and i learned how NOT to paint a ceiling ;) sunday's games were ok, and then we all went to the argonaut afterwards, and joe i wound up hanging out there for a good couple of hours. we had pizza and sopranos sunday night, and it felt great :) i'm going to miss that show when it's over. sunday's are always my favorite tv night.
this week is about the same... friday night is a going away party for one of our friends that is switching coasts. adam is moving out to california, and his house is having a HUGE party to bid him farewell. i think there will be well over 100 people there. so that will be a fun time :) then saturday we can recover from the party, and we plan on going out to the batting cages, to practice for sunday's game. tonight i'm meeting up with girls from theknot... i met with them once in clarendon, and we had a great time! it's fun to hang out with a bunch of other wedding obsessed girls, and hash out your details, and get some more ideas on things you're planning. i got my idea and a template for our invitations from a local girl at the last one, as well as tips on our reception location. i seriously don't know how people plan weddings without this site ;) anyway, we'll have fun tonight with that!
i'm also currently starting a new program... my eating habits are still ok, but my exercise has fallen by the wayside. so to get back in shape in time to try on dresses, i bought the "buff brides" book. it's a simple workout routine, that gradually gets more difficult as the weeks go on. it's a six month program, and i figure if i start now, i can start slowly, and get myself into a really good routine, and keep that up for the last 5 months until the wedding :) and in six months, it will be my birthday, so that's something to shoot for ;) the first week is just 20 min 3 times a week of cardio, and then a few weights 3 days a week. it gradually builds you up to exercising 45-50 min 4 times a week, with weight training for an hour 3 days (on the off days of cardio). from what i've done in the past, it's basically the same, but i prefer to have guidelines from a program i know will work, rather than just starting back on my own. i may also join a group personal training session... it's cheaper than one on one personal training, and i'd have other people in the group to keep me accountable. i'm having a tough time motivating myself to get back into running. i've signed up for two races, and backed out of both of them. i'm going to start with a 5k instead, and then see how it goes from there. i miss the 10k races, but i'm worried of doing stuff too fast too soon, and injuring myself. so if you're interested, look for updates on that. something has to change... i jumped on the scale, and i'm at the highest weight i've been in 3 years. oy. still teetering between a healthy weight for my height and "overweight", but i am down to one pair of pants (other than sweatpants) that fit... and i REFUSE to buy a bigger size. so either i start wearing sweatpants to work, or i start running ;) it helps to have other people motivating me. i ran into two women that i used to see at the dog park all the time. one night we had a conversation about weight loss, and i told them about losing 70lbs via weight watchers. apparently that inspired them, and they joined a few months back, and both have lost over 40lbs (one of them has lost over 50)! i couldn't believe it, and they kept thanking me :) it felt good, but also made me feel REALLY guilty... i was a poster child for weight watchers back in the day, but lately my weight has been slowly creeping back on. so not to let them down, i'm back on track, and i'm determined to live up to my reputation ;) i still love that program, and i highly recommend it to anyone that is trying to lose weight. it taught me all i know about portion control and what someone my size should be eating in a day. i still remember what a rude awakening it was to see how much 1 cup of macaroni and cheese amounted to... seriously, it was half my day's worth of points! oy.
anyway, so that's the news... i'll try and update more than once a week. it's been pretty hectic around the house, but things are slowing down a little. i'm looking forward to memorial day (trip to NY), and then to the following weekend (i get to try on wedding dresses in michigan) :) then we're having a visitor (joe's friend shawn)... should be fun, fun times!
