i somehow managed to get a head cold while i was home... my sinuses are killing me, and my throat is raw :( so i skipped bootcamp this morning to get more rest, hoping that will help me feel better by tomorrow.
thanksgiving was fun, but it was the smallest turn out we've ever had for dinner on thursday. but we still had fun playing games, and everyone finally got to meet joe :) we spent the rest of the weekend travelling around to see family, so that no one would miss out, and now i'm exhausted.
driving to michigan was actually pretty good. we left wednesday night, drove for 4 1/2 hours, and stayed the night in pittsburgh. then we woke up at 6am thursday morning, and drove the rest of the way, traffic free :) easy drive, and the overnight rest made a HUGE difference. the way home however, was a 10 hour drive, and involved a lot of congestion along the PA turnpike. but we got here, and the weather was good, so we can't complain too much. we'll be doing this drive again in three weeks for laura's wedding, so it was a good practice run :)
this weekend i'm heading back to michigan via plane, for laura's bachelorette party. should be a fun time. then it's back to DC for a show on saturday night (joe and i are going to see 'movin out' by billy joel), then it's laura's wedding, and then christmas in new york. one weekend of travelling down, three to go!

my birthday was fun, thanks for all the birthday wishes! i got the laptop from my parents, and joe got me a beautiful robe with matching slippers, and some chocolate to DIE for. it's sooooooo good. i'm amazed there is still some left, i can't stop eating it! joe and i saw the new bond movie saturday night, and i really liked it :) it was such a fun date night, just the two of us. definitely need to make that a habit :) saturday we also picked out the groomsman and joe's tuxes for the wedding, and they are gonna look HOT. one more thing checked off the list. the guys are wearing bowties and silver vests, white for joe. he looked so handsome, and i got a sneak preview of my view from walking down the aisle ;) then sunday my mom arrived, and we went scouting around for hotels and booked our room for the wedding weekend. we also started our wedding invitations, so we're making great progress!
this week marks the start of the holiday craziness. i'll be out of town 4 out of the 5 next weekends... if i don't go crazy, it will be a miracle. michigan this weekend, then back to michigan the following weekend. then i'm here, then it's back to michigan AGAIN, and then to new york the weekend after that. and then it's new years, and we *may* be going out of town for that. phew. i'll be so glad when january gets here. but that's the 3 month mark before the wedding... and SO much to do. but i'll get through it! maybe i just won't bother unpacking :)

this weekend is my birthday :) i turn the big 2-8! only one more birthday after this before i hit 30... so i'm livin it up while i can :) i actually don't have big plans... my mom is flying in on sunday, and saturday i requested a "date night" with joe, since we haven't had one in a while. plus it's the last weekend we have free time until the new year. so i think we're going to go see a movie, and then pick up armand's pizza (chicago deep dish and my absolute favorite in this world) for dinner :) yum! we're also going to pick out the tuxes for the wedding, so that the groomsman can get their measurements in.
other than that, next week is a short week, and then joe and i are travelling to michigan with the dog for thanksgiving on wed night/thurs morning. we haven't figured out when we are leaving yet. if we leave wed night, we'll be staying overnight somewhere, or we can just get up really early on thurs (like 4am) and drive straight through. either way, it's a long trip... but it will be fun to see my family and friends! and it's our first thanksgiving together, so my family is excited to have joe there :)

what a long weekend! but it was very productive! our house is clean, and we finished registering for all our wedding gifts! i wasn't prepared for how long that process would take... we spent 4 hours at macy's on saturday, and then another 3 hours at bed bath and beyond on sunday morning. but we did it! hopefully we have enough, and a good price range for everyone. it was fun piling everything into shopping carts (bb&b's computers were down, so they let us just pick out what we wanted, and added it all later for us). it felt like we won the lottery and just got to buy everything in the store ;)
in the meantime, my mom is coming into town this sunday for my birthday, and to book her room for the wedding. a week from tuesday will be the five month mark... so i hope our guests have started booking rooms! it's a busy tourist time in april, so although i do have rooms slated at the hotels, everyone might not get their first pick! plus if anyone is staying earlier/later than the wedding weekend, rooms might not be available. but i hope people find places to stay. it looks like the majority of our wedding party will be arriving on thursday, and most of our family (parents, sister, joe's mom and grandmother) arriving on wednesday. so we're thinking of hosting a pizza party thursday night at our apartment, to get everyone together :) we'll see how it works out. next on the agenda: rehearsal dinner reservation. we NEED to get that taken care of, but the place we want to have it at is terrible at returning phone calls. hopefully we'll get that squared away soon!
then it's wedding band shopping time, and invitation making. i'm trying to get that started so my mom can help me this weekend... but we'll see how far i actually get. i had a dilemma with my laptop, and LOST my wedding files. all of them. including the guest list with all the addresses :( luckily i had a month old copy stored somewhere, and could retrieve most of it, but i had a mini break down saturday morning when i thought all was lost. i did lose all my invitation files, so i have to recreate those from scratch. ugh. oh well, that taught me a lesson.
this week is pretty uneventful. i have a dog meeting tonight, and then bootcamp every morning. i missed today's due to some stomach issues, but i'm running tonight and going tomorrow, so it's not the end of the world. i'm into week three, and still loving it! :)

last weekend we finished our wedding classes, and with all the running around we've been doing, i'm really feeling the stress building. bootcamp is helping, as i feel much better once i'm finished with class, but joe and i have had little fights here and there for the past few days, and i think we're really grating on each other's nerves. i'm really looking forward to this weekend, since i have friday as a holiday, and a 3 day weekend :) it will give me time to really relax, and get stuff done around the house. my mom is visiting the following weekend for my birthday, and then it's thanksgiving already! two weeks from thursday... it really crept up on me. the following weekend is laura's bachelorette party, then we're home, then it's laura's wedding, then christmas. phew! but this weekend... i'm relaxing... :)
tomorrow is election day, so GO VOTE. it's crazy around town preparing for it... i even had people picketing outside work with reminders. gotta love this town :) and ironically, i forgot to register in dc when i moved in with joe... oops. so i can't vote, but in dc, since i vote democratic, it wouldn't have mattered anyway :) joe and i are going out tomorrow night onto capitol hill and the penn ave bars, to celebrate the election. should be a great time!
this weekend, after i'm done relaxing, i'm running in the veteran's day 10k sunday morning. i'm ready, and my bootcamp class on friday proved it (we ran the whole 55 minutes, and i didn't die) :) i can't let the whole year go by without running a race, so this is my one and only until the spring. in the meantime, i'll be outside mon-fri getting my ass kicked at bootcamp, so i'll be ready when the time comes!
ugh... i hate mondays. only three more days left though :)
