AWESOME.

I fixed my cell phone spam problem. They call, and now that I know their number on caller ID... they say "Carrie?" and I say "Sorry, wrong number!".

Sounds so simple... and guess what... it works!!! No more calls!! Amazing. I'm laughing at the sheer madness of it all.

In other news, 3 weeks from tomorrow is the big day! Joe's having some work stress issues... but hopefully that works itself out over the next few days :( This weekend is a do-it-yourself wedding extravaganza. I only have ONE more free weekend (the weekend before the wedding I'm packing and cleaning like crazy) after this one, so have to get 90% of things done. Two full days, I think I can do it :) It's supposed to rain on Sunday, so hopefully they will cancel Softball practice, otherwise, I think I will have to cancel myself. I can't believe we're almost under 20 days to go! 2 weeks from Monday until our guests start arriving! WOW!!! :)

And in very beautiful news... the cherry blossoms are peaking right now around the Tidal Basin. I pass them on my way into work every morning, and it's so gorgeous. I'm so lucky to have that view in my neighborhood :) The tourists are swarming as the peak tourist time of the year approaches... next weekend downtown will be madness for the cherry blossom festival. But of course we'll go like every other year :) My first flower from Joe was a cherry blossom... he gave it to me after the parade, my first year out here. He and Katie and I were troopers, and went during the 40 degree weather :) Ah, the good old days. I love springtime :)

My view on my way to work:

Joe and I had an animated discussion yesterday about a recent news story out of Detroit. Apparently a private school in Michigan is suspending/expelling students if they have a MySpace profile. Immediately, I was outraged. It seemed like an ENORMOUS invasion of privacy, for the school to dictate what students can do in the privacy of their own homes. Joe argued back that you pay tuition to go to the school... you CHOOSE to attend of your own free will. So the school can set whatever guidelines it wants. Really? To me, there has to be SOME line... where do you draw it?? Can the school tell you to only eat vegetables, wear your uniform 24 hours a day, and never watch TV? I'm a product of Catholic schools (1st through 12th grade)... and I know that they guilt you into telling you what you SHOULD be doing. But I've never heard of it going this far. I could understand if they banned the website in school... but really, they can tell you not to go there while at home, too?

I'm still searching for answers on this one...

Add another number to the list: 414-208-1038. One more person spamming me on my cell phone. It's highly, highly irritating.

In lighter news, my mom came in last weekend, and she went with me to my dress fitting and hair trial. Both went really well, and I got to bring my dress home with me. Now it's all ready to go for the big day! 25 days to go and counting! I made good progress on the ceremony programs on Saturday... now I just need Joe to sit down and finish his part, and we'll be good to go!

This weekend we have no plans, so hopefully I'll make even more progress on everything... wish me luck! We're almost in the home stretch!!

Ugh. I'm being plagued with telemarketing scams. It didn't dawn on me until last week as to HOW these guys got my info. Have you ever seen the infomercial for "Hercules Hooks"? Yeah, Joe and I were pretty impressed, and wanted to try them out. $10, no big deal. I should have known something was up when I sat on the phone for TWENTY MINUTES placing the order. I had to "opt out" of offer after offer after offer... until FINALLY they put my order through. We got the hooks, they really do work, great!

Only then I start getting bombarded with telemarketing scams. These numbers call me at least twice a day, EVERY day: 727-712-0382 - 727-541-0001 - 800-266-9420. I refuse to answer, because I google any number I don't recognize. And low and behold, these are ALL a bunch of scams. *sigh* I find a SLEW of websites with complaints about other people who are also getting bombed with a million calls every day.

I have put my number on the "do not call" list... and once my 31 days is up, I'm filing complaint after complaint. Not sure what else I CAN do... they bought my information from Hercules, I have no doubt. I'm hoping someone starts a class action suit... maybe then I can be compensated for not only the privacy violation, but the sheer annoyance of getting call after call.

For more info on one of the numbers, check out 727-541-0001 SCAM. Another story from someone else who took the time to track these people down :) Let's hope someone sues these jerks!!!

One month from today!!! 31 days until I'm official a Mrs!! 27 days until our first guest arrives in town (Laura is staying with us and arriving on Monday night) :) In the spirit of our wedding, I visited our photographer's blog, and saw they shot a wedding on St. Patrick's Day. The photos are gorgeous... I'm really, really happy they are doing our wedding!!! Our photos are going to be beautiful!!! :) They are the ones that shot the photos I used in the header for our website :)

Well, we had a busy but productive weekend. Saturday morning we went down to the Fort to pick out our menu for the reception and cocktail hour. I had been warned that our reception place was having their roof replaced, and as a result, there would be scaffolding everywhere. Yeah, they weren't kidding. It looks AWFUL :( So bad, that we can no longer take photos there, and people won't want to walk outside on the balcony. Before, you could walk out and view the water... now you walk out and look down into a dumpster and construction equipment. *sigh* I'm really, really sad about it.. but there's nothing I can do. We are one month away, and it's much too late to change venues. They gave us some discounts, but I'm still really bummed. Granted, the inside looks great, but being on the water was a huge selling point for us, and now it's gone.

On the brighter side, we are now one month away :) 4 weeks from Saturday, I only have 4 weekends left until I'm a Mrs! :) Joe and I are getting more and more excited about the day-of, and our cruise! We've been scoping out the excursions for the different islands, and we think we are doing a tour of the Appleton Rum plantation in Jamaica :) That, and in Cozumel, we are doing a "dolphin adventure" where you swim with dolphins (literally... they make you grab onto their fins and the dolphins pull you along in the water) and then they come up from underneath and shoot you out of the water!! I'm soooo excited!! I bought underwater cameras to bring with us, so that we can hopefully get some good action shots! The rest of the time, we are going to enjoy our balcony room, with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, breakfast in bed, and lots and lots of entertainment on our ship!

But we still have a lot to do before then. I still have to finish our ceremony programs, the menus, placecards, seating charts, favors, and the out-of-town bags with information for our guests. I'm running short on time! Last weekend we spent St. Patrick's day with our friends down in Woodbridge, and then Sunday Kevin came up to watch some basketball and racing :)

Lily (or as we now call her, "the bean") is still doing great. She turned 3 years back in February, and just had her annual exam on Saturday. She's in perfect health, and has even lost 4 pounds (which is GREAT) on her new diet and exercise program :) She's a solid 77 lbs... I have been taking her on 1 mile walks every day in the morning, and another mile again after work. I also switched her over to the "weight management" food from Wellness (she was on Wellness Chicken previously), and I think it's made a big difference. Now if only I could be that good with myself. I'm back stuck at 137 (just for reference, one year ago I was at 137, two years ago I was at 127, and 3 years ago, I was at 120), and it looks like that's where I will stay until the wedding. I'm not too worried... my dress fits and looks great right where I am. My honeymoon photos might not be so hot, but oh well... it's still much better than I looked 5 years ago (when I weighed 188!)! :)

So here's hoping I can stay on the losing trend for the next 4 and a half weeks... 3 and a half weeks until family and friends start arriving early! My mom is coming in this Thursday so that she can come with me to my final dress fitting, and my hair trial on Friday. I'll get a good look at how everything will look, and I'm really excited!! :) Although, my seamstress is not going to be happy with me. I had to change my shoes because after our dance lesson, my feet hurt SO BAD... there's no way I could get away with those the day of the wedding. I looked high and low for shoes that are the same height, but nada. So I wound up with a pair of ballroom shoes that are an inch lower. So hopefully she doesn't get mad with the extra work!

In non-wedding news, I've begun to join in the DCDOG group out here that is fighting for dog parks in the District. It's fun getting to know other people, and I can use the knowledge I have from the dog parks in Arlington (and the group I'm in, Arlington Dogs), to help them come up with the regulations. So far, we've been less than excited about the city's ideas. One rule stated there must be a 5 block radius around the park that is certified rat-free. Um... hello!! We live in DC!! There is NO block in DC that is rat free, let alone a 5 block radius. Stupid. I read an article about how corrupt the Parks department is here... such a shame. I hope our group has an impact, and we can get those regulations to make more sense. We have until May 1st to respond... but with the wedding, I'm not going to have much time to participate as much as I would have liked. But I'm helping with what I can!

So that's all the news so far. Wedding business is still top priority... but not for long!! :) :)

Well, last year came and went, and I didn't run in a single race :( So this year, I vowed not to let that happen again! I signed up for the St. Patrick's Day 8k this Sunday, and another 5k next weekend. Then I joined a team for the Race for the Cure 5k out here on June 2nd. The Race for the Cure was my first ever race. I ran it with my old roommate Jackie back in Detroit, when I was at my highest weight. It was so fun, I vowed to beat my time the following year. And I did! I love running with a big group of people, and getting all the fun snacks at the end :) Plus the majority of the time, the race sponsors are going for a good cause :)

Anyway, for the Race for the Cure, I opened up a donation page. So if you want to support my running efforts and help find a cure for breast cancer, follow this link:

I know someone personally who is currently suffering from breast cancer (Rosie)... so this particular race means a lot to me. I have a goal of $250... help me reach it!! :)

What a great weekend! Not only was the weather GORGEOUS (70 degrees and sunny) but we had a really productive weekend, wedding-wise :) Saturday morning Joe and I woke up early to get out to our dance lesson. We had 90 minutes with an instructor, who showed us some basic moves to use with our first dance at the wedding. She was awesome! Joe and I are not pros, but we will definitely be able to do more than just sway back and forth :) We were nervous because our song is a little faster than most ("You're My Home" by Billy Joel)... but she showed us some easy steps to keep the beat, and it's sort of has a cha-cha rhythm to it :) Our ending even has some fun twirls in it :) HOWEVER... my shoes are TERRIBLE. My feet were in enormous pain after wearing them and dancing in them for 3 hours straight... so I'm going to have to invest in some heavy duty foot pads for the day-of, or I won't make it to the reception :( I have shoes to wear for the rest of the night... but my dress is hemmed for my wedding shoes, so I have to do our dance in those! Hopefully if I am in pain, I'll be too excited for our dance to let it bother me :)

After that, we met with our day-of coordinator Kim... who is a godsend! I feel like the weight of the world has been lifted... she thought of everything! She's now handling all our vendors, and making sure everyone knows where to be when, and is handling the setup of all our items. My only job right now is to make sure I finish the items she needs... but beyond that, I can relax!! I cannot recommend her highly enough :) She is by far the most underpaid vendor for her worth.

Sunday Joe and I relaxed around home, and I went to town staining our wooden frames for our table numbers. I got all of them done, and all 54 are completely dry. All I have to do now is tape them together and adhere the table names, and those are set to go!

This weekend, Joe and I are meeting with our reception hall manager, to pick out the menu, and go over last minute details. I can't believe we are less than 40 days away!! Then the following weekend my mom is coming into town for my final dress fitting, and my hair trial. I'll get a good look at how the whole package will be, and I'm really excited!

Somewhere in there, we are also celebrating St. Patrick's Day and a friend's birthday... and also starting up our softball season! Joe and I play on a co-ed bar league, for the bar "the Argonaut". I mostly just fill in when they are short on girls, since my talent is lacking :) But I'm still excited for the Sunday games to begin!

39 days... 40 days til I'm relaxing on our cruise ship, drink in hand :) It can't come quick enough!!

If you are a guest at our wedding, don't forget to check out our wedding webiste: www.joe-carrie.com for all the updates!!

Wow, how's this for an eventful week? Monday - I go to my petsitter's house at lunch, and lock my keys in my car. *sigh* I have no spare, so I have to wait 45 min and pay $89 for a locksmith to help me out. Wednesday - Joe drops his car off to get looked at (it was doing some weird shaking thing on our way home from Michigan) before his trip to Atlantic City this weekend. They determine a caliper is frozen, and we need new rear brakes for approximately $500. Nice. Thursday - Joe finds out they do not have the right part for his car, and it will not be ready until Monday. He is supposed to be driving himself, his brother (who is flying in from Phoenix), and two friends up there on Friday at noon. Ok, no big deal, we decide to rent a car for the weekend, since Carmax reimburses us, and Cotsco gives us 50% off on rentals through Hertz :) THEN... his brother is supposed to arrive at 9:45 last night, but with all the storms, Jet Blue is delayed for SIX HOURS at JFK, so his flight lands at 3am, out at Dulles (which is about a 40 min drive from our house). *sigh* I felt so bad for Joe's brother, who was stuck in the airport for like 8 hours. Joe and I are both dragging today, but at least we got to spend the time waiting in a nice comfy bed :)

I told Joe that he's lucky all this stuff happened BEFORE his trip, so hopefully no bad things will go wrong while he's away :) I've got a lot of to-do's on my agenda for tonight and tomorrow... I'm determined to get a huge chunk of this wedding stuff out of the way. We're at the 50 day mark, and it's 7 weeks from tomorrow! Let's pray no more expensive car parts break between now and then!!
