carrie's first pregnancy

Baby Ben turned 11 months on Sunday... I can't believe he is almost ONE YEAR OLD!! He got weighed impromptu at the doctor's office when we went for his ear infection follow up visit, and he is up to 25 lbs! That's 85th percentile for weight, and goodness knows for height. He's now wearing some 2T/24m size clothes, as his 18m ones are now getting snug. He still isn't crawling, but sitting by himself from the floor, and he is now pulling up in his crib (well, to his knees, not to standing yet, YET!) :) I feel standing coming VERY soon, and time will tell if he will crawl or walk. It's hard not to worry about him being behind in the crawling/walking game, but his pediatrician is NOT worried, and claims a lot of babies do not crawl, and that if they skip that step, it does not mean anything is wrong. If he's 14 or 18 months and STILL not crawling or walking, THEN we worry. So we'll see... I am enjoying his low height right now, so we don't have to baby proof the house quite yet :) His language is getting very good... we think he says "DAH!" for "dog" and if you say "uh oh" he repeats it. I've been trying so hard to get it on video, but the minute I whip out the camera, he's all smiles and clapping. Silly kid :)

I also have a new laptop on the way for my birthday, and it's an Apple MacBook Pro! I've been dying to get one, because they are great at editing videos and photos, so soon I'll have lots of videos to throw on the site, and to share with family. I can't wait!

So in the meantime, I'm still shooting, and look forward to our 1 year professional family photos that we are having taken in two weeks. We went back and forth on cutting Ben's hair before the shoot, but I think we decided to keep it long (love those curls!) and cut it before Christmas instead (after the 1 year mark). When they are tamed, the curls frame his cute face, and I know they will photograph beautifully :)

Anyway, so we're off to New York for Thanksgiving with the Nelson family, and look forward to new videos and photos of our vacation! Especially since Ben gets to meet Uncle Mike for the first time! Fun, fun!! :)

Wow, I go away for two days, and Ben decides to learn a new trick! Joe told me after he picked me up from the airport that from now on we have to raise Ben's crib side (the one that drops down) up, because he can now sit up on his own! I guess he came into the bedroom to see Ben sitting there happily... and I witnessed it this morning while he was playing on the floor. So clapping, waving, and now sitting... I know crawling and pulling up are just around the corner! We're so proud! :)

Good job Baby Ben!

We had a great time for Halloween this year. Joe's mom is in town for the week, and she helped me get Ben dressed up in his tiger outfit, and painted on some cute whiskers. He had fun rolling around, but quickly got tired of it as the temperature outside rose to almost 70 degrees! We got some cute photos though!





























We also reached another milestone: clapping and waving! Joe first noticed the clapping last week, and then our daycare person confirmed it. I had to wait a few days before I witnessed it, but now he's clapping like crazy! Then this morning we were waving "bye-bye", and he started waving his hand back! We tried it a few times just to make sure it wasn't a fluke, and nope, he's a wavin'! I'll try and get it on video this week, it's the cutest thing :)

So we're having fun with Nonna, and he's pulling himself around like a pro. It won't be long until he's on all fours and pulling himself up on the table!
